For more than 15 years, Jacobs and DAF have worked together to provide greater braking power than a standard exhaust brake. Jacobs continues to collaborate with DAF today as the leading heavy-duty truck producer works to strengthen its position in the European truck market.

Jacobs’ first application was for the DAF 12.6 liter engine, which launched in 1996. This was our first program for a European engine and truck manufacturer, which led to further engagements between DAF and Jacobs.

DAF sought increased braking power and better engine integration for its latest MX Europe engine, which launched in 2006. Jacobs supplies total overhead content for the 12.9 liter MX, including Positive Power only and Integrated Engine Braking. The integrated MX engine brake provides excellent engine brake performance from 200 kW at 1,500 rpm to 325 kW at 2,100 rpm.
