Bloomfield, CT, USA – Jacobs Vehicle Systems™, the world’s leading manufacturer of heavy-duty diesel engine retarding systems and engine valve actuation mechanisms, announced today, that it has launched an engine brake for the new Yuchai YC6K12, 12.2L engine.

The engine brake was designed in conjunction with Yuchai’s engineering staff to maximize the performance and integration of the retarder. The resulting system has the highest retarding performance per liter of any engine brake in China. The engine and engine brake were developed for application into the new C&C Truck, a new heavy truck brand in China.

The braking system consists of two dedicated cam operated compression release overhead housing assemblies and a custom designed exhaust brake. This provides a synergistic effect for maximum cylinder pressure utilization to achieve the high retarding power density. Additionally, it includes specialized valve train crossheads with integrated braking valve motion actuation pins and dedicated brake rocker arms to transfer motion from the dedicated brake cams to the brake housing assemblies.

With the launch of this product, the heavy commercial vehicle market in China will have a world class engine and engine brake combination. It is a clear demonstration of the value of working with Jacobs at the earliest possible engine design stage. This new and innovative design will make the new C&C Truck more competitive than any other vehicle in applications requiring retarding.
